When I found out that the author of "The Hunger Games" also wrote "Clarissa Explains It All"
Via #whatshouldwecallmeWeeks 10 and 11
I forgot to post last week, but I’ve been reading! The first book was called Sloppy Seconds by Tucker Max. It’s his 4th book, and was free on iTunes. Which is just awesome! It was good though. If you like tucker max I definitely recommend it! The second book was the Glass Case, but I forget the authors name. It was also free on iTunes, but it was more of a short story than an actual book. I had limited time to read so I had to pick something short! It was pretty good, about a little boy who doesn’t get off the school bus and his mom has to find him.
Week 9
Definitely haven’t been posting, but I’ve been reading! Week 9 was the truth about forever. It’s about a girl that tries way too hard to be perfect, which was an interesting perspective cause I’m the exact opposite of that.
Week 7/8 The Perks of being a Wallflower and The Dispatcher
So… I’m behind in my posts but ahead in my reading… I think? I finished the first book Tuesday and the second last night.
These were two really different books but I liked them both. The perks of being a wallflower didn’t really resonate with me like I’ve heard it has for other people, but it was still good!
The dispatcher was really good. It’s about a man who’s daughter was declared dead and then he gets a call from her saying she was kidnapped and she needs help. The author gives the perspectives of the dad who is a cop the daughter and the kidnapper which makes it really interesting to read!
Week 6- Nineteen Minutes
This book is taking me a while to read, almost two whole weeks. Which I guess is okay because I read three books in the first week… but I have a short one I’m going to try and read by Sunday night.
Anyway, this book is about a school shooting, and it shows the perspective of everyone involved, including the shooter. As much as you hate the kid who did it, you can really identify with him and why he did it. He was bullied his entire life, and not just light teasing but very seriously bullied. Eventually he just got sick of it and took it out on the whole school. Obviously I wouldn’t recommend the course of action he took, but you can understand why he just snapped eventually. There’s only so much one person can take. I really enjoyed this book, I just didn’t have a lot of time to devote to it last week. Very interesting.

Week 5- The Heart of the Matter
This weeks book was The Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin. This author wrote Something Borrowed, which was recently turned into a movie starring Kate Hudson. Instead of choosing that book, since I’ve already seen the movie, I picked this one which I really knew nothing about.
This book shows the lives of two very different women, leading two very different lives who are brought together by one tragedy that changes both of their lives forever. As it turns out, the tragedy itself didn’t affect both women per say. One of the women is the wife of the doctor, who is on the case of the young boy who was injured. But eventually, the doctor falls in love with his patient’s mother and has an affair.
Since we see both women’s perspectives, it’s hard to really take sides with one or the other. You understand why the woman who is sleeping with a married man can’t help herself, and yet you hate her for hurting the other woman so much. I really enjoyed this book, finishing it in only a few days, but it put me in a very strange mood after reading it.
Week 4- Mr. Murder
So this weeks book was another by Dean Koontz. Since I have about 4 of his books that were given to me that I never read, I figured now was the time! Especially since I had no other books to read!
This book was a classic Dean Koontz, a mystery novelist finds himself face to face with his “evil twin” who wants his life back. This “evil twin” feels as if the novelist has stolen his life, including his wife and kids and he has come to take them back by any means necessary. Of course, this man is not really his twin, but a government created being, made to kill. This book is just as good as all of his other books! It’s hard for me to pick a favorite, but this one is probably close to the top of that list.
If you are into mystery thriller type books, you will appreciate this book.
I just got 5 books from barnes & noble’s so I will have new books to read for the next 5 weeks at least! I got the perks of being a wallflower which is pretty short, so I may end up reading more than one that week…

Week 3- Dark Rivers of the Heart
So this past weeks book was just finished today. Little bit late but to be fair I didn’t start it until Wednesday or Thursday last week so I still think it counts!
Anyway, this book is by Dean Koontz, one of my absolute favorite authors. He has a ton of books (literally over 70 novels plus short stories) which is great because I can at least count on him to get me through this challenge 😄
This book was just as good as all the others I’ve read by him. I am never disappointed! This one is about a man named Spencer Grant who meets a woman at a bar and discovers she’s wanted by the government. Spencer is also running from his past, and the two take on the agency together. Vague description but the best parts have to be read!
Week 2- Pretty Little Secrets
Took me a while to get back here because I just moved back to school for my final semester of college!! Very exciting/scary!
Anyway, for my second week of reading I chose the book Pretty Little Secrets by Sara Shepard. This is the 11th book in the Pretty Little Liars series, but it isn’t the next in chronological order. Instead this book goes back between the 4th and 5th books to a time that was skipped over originally. I love all the books in this series, so it makes sense that I loved this one just as much!

Week 1- The Hunger Games Trilogy
So I’ve decided to attempt to read one book a week for the entire year. I love to read and just thought this would be a slight challenge for myself, and would allow me to get a whole lot of new books in. I’m going to attempt to do this without re-reading any books, which is a terrible habit of mine. I can read the same book 20 times with no problem. With my last semester of college coming up, there is a chance I won’t get to finish one book a week, but I’m not going to limit myself to only one book. That way, I’ll still get all 52 books in. I started the first week of January, and read the entire Hunger Games trilogy which I got as a Christmas present. Already ahead of the game a little bit, but that’s totally fine.
The Hunger Games is about about a girl, Katniss Everdeen, living in some undetermined time in the future, in a country named Panem that used to be North America. The country is made up of 12 districts, formally 13, and the Capitol. Ever since a revolt occurred the Capitol forces each district to give two tributes (male and female) between the ages of 12 and 18 to “the Hunger Games” which is essentially just a fight to the death with only one winner. I’m not going to describe them anymore, because they’re too good to ruin.
I really really enjoyed this series. It’s so interesting because they are literally fighting to survive everyday in the districts while the people in the Capitol live with mass amounts of wealth. Katniss is a serious badass! Although there is some romance, the message I really took away from it was about the controlling government, and how helpless the rest of the country was. It’s all about strength and survival which is really fun to read about.
